Master Photographer Earns Master Degree
Online, October 18, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Early this year The Professional Photographers of America (PPA), one of the most recognized and respected organizations of its kind in the world, presented Rodney Lough Jr with a Master Of Photography Degree. PPA is the world's largest nonprofit association for professional photographers, with 24,000 members working in 54 countries. They provide resources and education for professional photographers all over the world. Their Master Of Photography Degree is not given often, and is not easily earned.
The Master Of Photography degree they offer is not a typical classroom degree, but a degree based on hard work and merit within the field. In this setting a photographer receives his credits through a points system.
Most photographers that are on the path for this degree will tend to receive points twice for any given photo. They will typically enter into a low-level local and regional competition first, in which they can win points. After being awarded points for their performance there they move on to the PPA's larger, national level competition, the PPA's International Print Competition, where they can receive additional points.
At Rodney's level, local contests aren't really an option any longer, and contests of the highest calibre, such as the International Print Competition, are the only ones he is willing to enter. With that in mind, each piece he produces will likely be entered in fewer competitions. You might think that having fewer points available would make earning the degree beyond difficult, but not for Rodney Lough Jr.
This degree is only another stop along the way. He has already produced hundreds of stunning and award-winning photographs. We look forward to seeing hundreds more.
