Mauser Expands IBC Production In Germany

MAUSER Group, a worldwide leading company in industrial packaging, has opened a new IBC line at its facility in Bammental, Germany.

Starting the production of MAUSER SM composite IBC at this location near Heidelberg will allow MAUSER to supply its customers in Southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland much more efficiently. In line with the company's overall carbon footprint reduction strategy this new expansion puts additional production capacity close to areas of increased demand.

The installation of a complete IBC line including new multilayer blow moulding machinery puts MAUSER in a position to produce its complete MAUSER® SM IBC portfolio out of Bammental. Besides well-known standards for hazardous and sensitive filling goods this also comprises MAUSER® SM EX IBC to be used in EXZones and MAUSER® SM LP with specific light protection capabilities.

"Our aim is to grow with the customer globally. This does not only include the expansion in emerging markets but also the optimization of our carbon footprint in well-established markets like in this case Europe. Supply security, on-time delivery and short reaction time to customers' demands are key in today's supply chain logistics. Opening our new IBC line in Bammental will allow us to serve our customers even better. We are closer to the customer and able to faster react to client's demands and needs," says Pierre Ferracci, Head of Sales, MAUSER Group.

Furthermore, the expansion complies with the company's sustainability approach and enables MAUSER and its customers to reduce environmental impact related to the transport of empty packaging.

The MAUSER facility in Bammental was founded in 1956 and since then is continuously growing. Today, the site is one of MAUSER's biggest locations for the production of plastics packaging in various sizes and designs. A majority of the products like open top drums or L-Ring drums are UN-approved packaging conforming with the UN-regulations for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods. Moreover, Bammental is MAUSER's European hub for the production of injectionmoulded accessories like covers, caps or handles.

"The production of UN-approved packaging and special requirements coming with this is not new for our people in Bammental. They are familiar with the demands on quality and safety for such specific packaging as well as with the requirements on hygiene and conformity when it comes to supplying e.g. food or electrochemical
industries. Adding a high demanding product like MAUSER SM IBC to the Bammental portfolio makes sense, especially as a lot of our customers already receive other packaging out of this plant and know well about the high quality standards achieved," summarizes Rene Spoel, Operations Manager Germany, Italy and United Kingdom.
