MAUSER NCG Acquires Majority Shares In Leading Canadian IBC Reconditioner
Online, April 6, 2011 (Newswire.com) - NCG acquired a majority of the shares of the Canadian company RTQ, a leading reconditioner of composite IBCs. This transaction is in line with the global sustainability policy of the MAUSER Group designed to help customers to combine economy with ecology.
RTQ Canada operates reconditioning sites both at its headquarters in Boucherville (Montreal) and in Mississauga (Toronto). Its main focus being on composite IBCs, the company is IBC market leader in Quebec and Ontario. RTQ also has a strong market share in reconditioned plastic drums. The newly acquired company is no stranger to the MAUSER world. In the past five years, RTQ and NCG have successfully cooperated in a sales joint venture in Ontario. The new and extended joint venture will provide RTQ's complete line of services to all eastern Canada customers.
Peter Schaefer, Global Head of NCG, is pleased with this extended partnership that will lay a broader basis for future cooperation: "As a majority shareholder of RTQ we will be more flexible to serve current and future needs of our Canadian customer base. We will be able to help our clients to increase their cost-effectiveness and to improve their environmental record."
The former owners and managers of RTQ, Guy Trepanier and Simon D'Amours, as minority shareholders, will make sure the integration of the companies is a smooth process. Both Canadian shareholders will continue to serve RTQ as senior managers. Commenting on the acquisition, Guy Trepanier described it as a win-win-transaction: "Being part of an integrated packaging company will open up new opportunities for RTQ and its employees. We will be able to both contribute to and benefit from each other's technical know-how. The eco-expertise of the global MAUSER organization will raise the bar to ensure state-of-the-art safety, health and environmental standards are offered to our customers and devoted employees."
