MBRG Names Jay Steinmetz, Bradley Myers to Board of Directors

Maryland Business for Responsive Government (MBRG), a statewide, non-partisan, pro-business organization, has named Barcoding, Inc. founder and CEO Jay Steinmetz and Sandy Spring Bank Vice President Bradley Myers to its board of directors.

In 2001, The Baltimore Business Journal named Steinmetz one of its Top 40 Business Leaders Under 40. Three years later, Barcoding, Inc. became an Inc. 500 company that was recognized by Forbes as one of 10 privately held companies to watch. Today, thanks to Steinmetz’s leadership, the company employs more than 90 people in 16 states and generates revenues in excess of $60 million.

Steinmetz is a leading media source regarding RFID, Wireless, mobile and the AIDC industry, and has published editorials in the Wall Street Journal, the Baltimore Sun, and beyond. As a member of Governor Hogan’s Regulatory Reform Commission, he has identified, written, and subsequently passed legislative reforms that are still in use today. Steinmetz currently serves as a board member of LifeBridge Health Sinai Hospital and the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business. He recently was appointed to the board of the Baltimore Economic and Efficiency Foundation (BEEF).

As a Commercial Lender and Vice President of Sandy Spring Bank in Columbia, Md., Myers works with local companies whose revenues range from $5,000,000 to $100,000,000, assisting them with cash and time management, and the implementation of methods to increase growth and profitability.

A lifelong Howard County resident, Myers serves on the boards of The Howard County Chamber of Commerce; Junior Achievement Central Maryland, where he is also the Chairman of the Howard County Advisory Board; The Association of Community Services; and the Howard County Revenue Authority, a position appointed by the Howard County Executive. He is also Co-Chair of the Cystic Fibrosis Maryland’s Finest event, and was previously Chairman of the Board for the Howard County Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network.

Myers currently serves as treasurer for the Committee to Elect Allan Kittleman.

“Jay and Brad are unique and talented individuals who epitomize entrepreneurial spirit and business savvy, and MBRG is extremely fortunate to have their insight and counsel,” said MBRG President, Duane Carey.
