MC Hammer Announces Rational Search Engine In The Works
Online, November 1, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Rap music icon MC Hammer is launching his own search engine targeted at providing users with results from their keyword searches as well as topics related to those keywords.
Hammer announced the launch at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, and he said he plans to take on leading search engines Google and Microsoft's Bing.
The new search engine will be called WireDoo, and will add relationship information to search results. Hammer says that users can search a term, such as "car", and not only receive results relating to cars, but also information on related topics, such as insurance offerings, car safety tests and other topics of interest to those performing the search.
"Search once and see what's related," is the company's motto.
The new search engine isn't online yet, and is still under production. Once live, users will be empowered to conduct "deeper searches" than what are currently available using sites such as Yahoo or Google, according to Hammer.
Hammer says he became involved in the technology industry because there is a great potential for investors to earn large sums of money in data-driven products.
Hammer is co-founder and chief strategy officer of DanceJam.com. He became involved in the technology sector back in the days when he was a top recording artist. He spent time at Apple and Silicon Graphics to learn more about how technology could help his music career.
"There is no high-tech lingo or business strategy that you can talk that is above my head," he said during an interview. "I breathe this stuff."
