MD HIV Patients Enjoy Healthy Meals Thanks to Moveable Feast, KBE Building Corp.

Volunteer effort part of firm's corporate philanthropic program, 50 Ways to Make a Difference

Local adults suffering from life-threatening illnesses last night enjoyed healthy meals at no cost thanks to Moveable Feast and staff members from KBE Building Corporation’s Mid-Atlantic regional office in Maryland.

KBE’s volunteer service is part of the firm’s corporate philanthropic program, 50 Ways to Make a Difference.

Established in 2009 to celebrate the firm’s new ownership, name change, and 50 years in business, 50 Ways has helped KBE associates donate more than $1.5 million and 9,000 volunteer hours to charitable causes benefiting children, seniors, and military veterans in Connecticut and Maryland.

Making Meals with Moveable Feast

Moveable Feast provides nutritious foods and other services at no cost to people with HIV, cancer, and other life-threatening medical conditions. The organization’s vision is threefold: feed people, fight disease, and foster hope.

KBE staff members provided the following volunteer services on April 9:

·         chopping vegetables

·         cleaning the kitchen

·         packing lunch bags

·         preparing and packaging meals

·         sorting grocery donations

·         washing dishes/equipment

A Legacy of Philanthropy in Maryland

KBE’s Mid-Atlantic regional office has created a legacy of volunteer service and charitable donations in Maryland since 2009.

Past efforts have included donations to Santa’s Helpers Anonymous, volunteer time with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, and the preparation of Thanksgiving meal kits for needy families as part of the firm’s signature annual charitable event, Gift of Gobble.
