Med Week Brings Together Entrepreneurs At The Bank Of New York Mellon To Celebrate Minority Business Success In The Global Economy

This year marks MED Week's 28th anniversary, and the theme is "Strategies for Growth and Competitiveness in the Global economy."

The Global Networking Award Reception will bring together IT firms, supplier/distributors, construction, service companies and other entrepreneurs that are involved in business outside of the U.S., or interest in becoming a part of the global economy. Consistent with our Theme, the New York Regional MED Week Awards Reception program will feature an astute Global Economy Business Panel that will provide greater understanding for MBEs to grasp broad opportunities for participating in global corporate supply chains and successfully export their products and services outside of the U.S.

The master of Ceremonies is Demarco Morgan, Anchor/Reporter at WNBC where he co-anchored the "South Florida Nightly News." Morgan's broadcasting credits include CBS affiliate WJTV in Jackson, Mississippi, and ABC affiliate WISN in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he anchored and reported for the station's morning newscasts. Morgan then joined NBC6 in Miami as an anchor and reporter in 2007. He has been honored with several Associated Press and broadcasting awards, and he is a strong advocate of community service.

Presenters include: Michael K. Robinson, Program Director, Global Supplier Diversity IBM Global, and an expert in corporate supply chains. Michael has led IBM with supplier diversity initiatives in the U.S., Latin America, Canada, Europe, Asia and South Africa. Phyllis Shearer Jones is Founder, President and CEO of Elan International LLC. Phyllis is an international business consultant and an expert on the African Growth and Opportunity Act. She is also an Overseas Private Investment Corporation loan originator.
