Medieval Faire Fans, The 25th Annual Hoggetowne Medieval Faire Is Just Around The Corner

The 2011 Renaissance Faire season has begun! Alachua County Fairgrounds is home of the first Medieval Faire of the year, Hoggetowne Medieval Faire.

Join the Thousands - The Hoggetowne festival is known to attract thousands of visitors each year. The Faire's loyal patrons plot and plan their costumes, anxiously awaiting its arrival. This year Hoggetowne expects to set a new attendance record with at least 50,000 visitors.

The Royal Pavilion - One of the first things visitors will see upon entering the faire is the beautifully decorated pavilion which nests the royal throne. This is where the king and queen of the Hoggetowne Fair reside. Guards and heralds stand on each side of the royal couple. Throughout the festival, children visit the pavilion and become knights, warriors, lords, and ladies.

The Marketplace - There are wonderful treasures and unique trinkets to be found at the festival. Over 160 local artisans gather to provide visitors with wood carvings, jewelry, hand blown glassware, medieval fashion, and more. Visitors are encouraged to come in their own, unique medieval costumes. Find yours at medievalcostumesandgifts.com

Entertainment and Recreation - Have some REALLY old fashioned fun. Magicians, musicians, jesters, and jugglers can all be found entertaining the patrons of this wonderful faire. There are also dancers, actors, and jousters that participate in different shows and performances throughout the day.

Rides and Animals - Adults and children get a kick out of the different animals at the faire. There are camels, elephants and ponies. Adults can also ride the animals. There is even a human-powered push ride. Now that's authentic!

Great Medieval Food - As always the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire will fill you up with delicious food. Munch on the famous giant turkey leg or try some of the local favorites such as ribs and sweet potato fries.

Don't miss out! The Hoggetowne Medieval Faire is happening January 29-30 and February 4, 5 and 6. Saturday and Sunday the Faire is open from 10-6 and Friday it is open from 9:30-3. Have fun and don't forget your Medieval Costumes!
