Memory of Rick "The Peautman" Honored by Creation of New Charitable Foundation

In honor of Rick "The Peanutman" Kaminski, beloved peanut vendor at Seattle Mariners games, the Rick The Peanutman Foundation has been created, raising money for Shoreline Community College and the Skagit Valley Boys and Girls Club.

Coinciding with what would have been the 69th birthday of Rick "The Peanutman" Kaminski, today marks the launch of the Rick The Peanutman Foundation. The new foundation will serve the Rick Kaminski Memorial Scholarship Fund, providing scholarships to Shoreline Community College, and the Skagit Valley Boys and Girls Club.

For more than 36 yeas, "The Peanutman" delighted Seattle sports fans with not only his magical peanut-flinging skills, but with his cheerful personality and colorful demeanor. The Rick the Peanutman Foundation has been established to honor and preserve his legacy, and to continue his passion for helping others by raising money for causes special to him - Shoreline Community College and the Skagit Valley Boys and Girls Club.

This baseball season, Rick "The Peanutman" t-shirts and merchandise will be available at the Mariners Team shop at Safeco Field, as well as ricktpm.org. All profits from the sale of these items will directly fund the foundation. In the near future, the Foundation also plans to make these products available at other retail outlets, as well as during fundraising events, such as the inaugural Rick "The Peanutman" Annual Golf Tournament, currently in the planning stages.

"Mariners fans were coming out of the woodwork asking how they could honor Rick and keep his beloved memory alive," said Scooter the Beerguy, Rick's vending cohort at Mariners games. "Starting a charitable foundation seemed perfect, giving Rick another opportunity to help others through his memory."

The Rick The Peanutman Foundation was formed by Rick's longtime partner, Candi Mindt-Keener. Candi is working with Seattle-based InSeat Marketing to design the products and manage the Foundation. Ad agency Purdie Rogers designed the organization's logo. The Foundation plans to launch a social media and publicity campaign this Friday March 1, 2013, and is already getting the word out during Mariner's spring training in Peoria Ariz.

The Foundation's Mission Statement:
The Rick the Peanutman Foundation exists to preserve the legacy of a public figure that was beloved in the Seattle sports community. Rick Kaminski used his popularity and notoriety to raise money and awareness for charitable causes that were dear to him. The Foundation's aim is to continue his passion for these causes after he has left us, and to keep his exuberant presence intact at Safeco Field for years to come.
