Online, March 16, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The Mental Health Association of Morris County (MHAMC) Board of Directors has announced the resignation of its President and CEO, Andrew Germak. Mr. Germak has joined the faculty of Rutgers University School of Social Work as the Executive Director of the Institute for Families and Lecturer in Nonprofit and Public Management. The Board sincerely thanks Mr. Germak for his services, and congratulates him on his new position.
The Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Shelly Wimpfheimer, DSW, as Interim President and CEO of the agency while the Board conducts a search for a new CEO. Currently, Dr. Wimpfheimer is President of Wimpfheimer & Associates, a consulting firm that specializes in the management of social services agencies. In addition, Dr. Wimpfheimer is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Columbia School of Social Work where she is teaching in the Social Enterprise Administration sequence. She is also on the faculty of Rutgers School of Social Work.
The MHAMC's priorities will remain the same during this time of transition and the agency will continue to provide high quality case management services and consumer-driven advocacy and support to those with severe or persistent mental illness. Founded in 1953, the MHAMC is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that works to promote mental health awareness, prevent mental illnesses, and improve the care and treatment of people in recovery from mental illnesses through programs of education and advocacy. Current services include information and referral, homeless outreach, supportive housing, consumer empowerment, and disaster response.
The MHAMC is in excellent hands, with knowledgeable, professional and dedicated Board members from the community serving the agency during this transition period. In addition, much of the MHAMC's ongoing success is attributable to the daily work of an outstanding Management Team and supporting staff who continue its important mission to educate and advocate, and to empower people in recovery from mental illnesses to live quality lives in their communities.
The Board's Search Committee has been working diligently to identify an experienced, dedicated and enthusiastic individual who will serve the MHAMC as our new President and CEO in the near future.
