Mercato Italia Aims To Deliver Authentic Italian Shopping Experience In Staten Island
Online, November 9, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Mercato Italia, a multi-category retail group supplying authentic, hard to find Italian fare, is opening its doors to the public on Sunday, November 14, 2010.
Mercato Italia consists of three shopping experiences, Vio Del Gusto, a marketplace of fine Italian foods and housewares; Dolci, an authentic Italian bakery and chocolate shop; and Emporio Italia, a store offering traditional Italian pantry items in bulk and family sized packaging.
Mercato Italia is the creation of Nick Ferrara, owner of importing firm Ferrara International and Sabbia "Sandy" Auriti, President of Italian food distributor Gusto Italia.
"My vision is for people to have access to fine Italian fare without having to cross the Hudson," says Auriti with excitement. "Mercato Italia is catering to Staten Island, Brooklyn and Central New Jersey residents, providing an alternative to gourmet shopping in Manhattan."
Mercato Italia is patterned after the old world markets of Italy and will stock imported Italian staples such as olive oil, sardines and pomodoro as well as unique items such as kosher pasta, single serve pestos and thirty year old aged balsamic vinegar.
Mercato Italia is located one block from the New Dorp train station in Staten Island at 61 New Dorp Plaza. More information regarding Mercato Italia can be found at www.gusto-italia.us.
