Merrill Brink International Receives Certification for Security Standards
Online, December 21, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Merrill Brink International (www.merrillbrink.com), a leading global provider of language solutions for global companies, today announced that it has been certified to ISO 27001:2005. Meeting this stringent standard governing security procedures within an organization is highly unique for a translation service company, but Merrill Brink sought the designation to demonstrate its commitment to maintaining the tightest security over all client data, including its translation work for the life science industry.
ISO 27001:2005 measures a company's Information Security Management System, and is designed to ensure that certified companies select and maintain a system to protect information within the business. Some of the security controls include physical security, data security and disaster recovery plans. Activities covered include controlled entry to buildings, document shredding, password management, confidentiality agreements and more. The ISO 27001:2005 standard covers work done at Merrill Brink's corporate headquarters in St. Paul, Minn. and at its Galway, Ireland office.
In addition to the ISO 27001:2005 certification, Merrill Brink has also been registered to EN15038:2006, a quality standard developed for the translation/localization industry in Europe by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). This addresses quality management standards for the translation/project management process; technical resources, client/vendor relations, and requirements for selecting translation resources.
With the addition of the two new standards, Merrill Brink is now certified to ISO 9001:2008; ISO 27001:2005 and ISO 13485:2003, and is registered to EN 15038:2006 and ISO 14971:2007.
"Merrill Brink has always been dedicated to both meeting and surpassing client expectations," said Claes Holm, president of Merrill Brink. "We are particularly excited about the ISO 27001:2005 certification, as we want our clients to know that our security measures within the company meet the world's highest standards. Our clients can be confident that their critical translation work is protected at all stages of production within our offices. These certifications are of particular importance to and mandated by our life sciences clients in the United States and Europe."
