Author Brings Inspiration and Motivation to a Book
(Seminole, FL) - Just as she has spread her own wings, Author Michalla Bolton encourages children to reach for the skies in her new book "Harold the Duck Learns to Fly."
Although Bolton has a promising career in the spotlight, she also wants to pass on what she has learned to a new generation of children through her writing.
"My grandparents always taught me to be positive and try my hardest. I wanted to take what I've learned and share that with children. Share the fact that you can do anything if you just believe in yourself," Bolton said.
The author sees a need for more books like hers that reinforce the values of determination, team work, inner hope, and confidence in a charming, fun-filled way.
In addition to writing for children, Bolton will also help children by donating one dollar from every book purchased to All Children's Hospital, where she herself was treated as a child.
"This book has a lot to offer; enchanting pictures by known artist Danielle Feliciano, information on animals, a positive message and fun rhymes. Hopefully it will provide education and entertainment." Bolton commented.
Bolton hopes to ignite within children the passion to read, learn, imagine, and to always keep fighting for your dreams no matter your age.
When asked how she identifies with her audience, Bolton says that it is easy because "I'm really still a kid at heart."
About Michalla Bolton
Bolton spent her first years of life traveling constantly with her parents, with no consistent school, friends, or home life. After moving in with her grandparents, she found strength, happiness and inspiration, but her battles were hardly over.
Bolton was diagnosed with scoliosis as a teenager and went to All Children's Hospital for treatment. It was there that Bolton began to write to defeat her fear with hope.
"My grandparents always encouraged me to do my best and that helped spur me to not only write, but also to act, model, and sing," Bolton says. "I wouldn't be anything without them."
Bolton has appeared as a model on HSN, was the face for the Beef O' Brady's Commercial, and is the new TV host for Better Health to name a few.
As a singer Bolton won various competitions while also lending her vocal services to nursing homes, schools and anniversaries.
Although models and singers carry the stereotype of being skin-deep, Bolton outshines the misconception with her intelligence, determination, and caring heart.
Not only does Bolton shine in the spotlight, she also glows in the darkness for those in need when she volunteers to help children.
Bolton has worked with various charities including Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Christian Children's Fund among others. She has also touched children's lives working at Disney and as a Teacher's Assistant at Seminole Elementary School.
Looking back at her struggle, she realized how tough situations can bring people down. She wanted to reach out to those in similar situations, using her own story as motivation.
"I am not doing this for myself but for the children" Bolton says, "I hope my book helps remind children that they can do anything they put their minds to and to always try their hardest and believe in themselves."
