Microwave Networks Inc. Continues Expansion of African Market
Zambia's Largest Power Utility Provider Selects MNI as Partner Once Again
Online, March 17, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Microwave Networks Incorporated (MNI), a leading global supplier of next generation microwave communication systems today announced the beginning of an advanced urban communications infrastructure project in Zambia for Zesco, the nation's largest power utility. This project highlights MNI's continued activity across the globe including the growing African market.
"We are extremely happy to once again choose Microwave Networks as our partner," said Zesco Engineering Manager Monica Milupi. "We are currently relying on MNI radios that have been operating trouble-free for the last 15 years. Their reputation for quality products, top tier deployment services, and strong support is well deserved; we know Zesco will continue to receive that same high level of commitment from MNI throughout our entire project."
MNI is using hot-standby protected 8 GHz Proteus M-Series microwave radios to provide Ethernet and E1 service in downtown Ndola. The new microwave infrastructure will serve to connect Zesco's offices, substations, and equipment locations with reliable, advanced voice and data services. Proteus M-Series is a sophisticated hybrid radio that can transport any combination of E1 and Ethernet in their native formats. Its inherent software design allows simple and rapid reallocation of payload as traffic utilization changes, making it ideal for growing networks. In addition to sending personnel in-country for installation supervision, MNI is also providing path design, site and path surveys, factory testing, and training services. The network is being implemented in Zambia in conjunction with international system integrator Balton CP.
Aviad Gefen, Microwave Network's President and CEO remarked, "Zesco's repeated selection of Microwave Networks is another example of MNI's long-term commitment to our customers in Africa. The M-Series is the perfect choice for providers like Zesco and enables rapid and seamless expansion of their network through software control and flexible allocation of their E1 and Ethernet traffic." Mr. Gefen also went on to say, "We are pleased to be recognized as a quality, next-generation microwave provider as well as for our commitment to unmatched responsiveness and best-in-class field support."
