Minding Your Matters® Owner Joins "Ask The Organizer" Panel At NAPO Conference

Minding Your Matters® owner Janice Russell was part of an "Ask the Organizer" panel during the annual National Association of Professional Organizers conference.

Even professional organizers have questions. And that's where the "expert" organizers come in.

Minding Your Matters® owner Janice Russell joined four of her colleagues in an "Ask the Organizer" panel during a recent professional conference.

The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) held its annual conference March 21-24 in Baltimore, MD. The panelists are chosen from among the leaders and innovators in the industry whose experience can benefit newer organizers or those struggling with a particular issue.

"I'm thrilled to be a part of this panel," Russell said. "When I first began organizing, I remember learning so much from these sessions. It's great to be part of the group helping the new wave of organizers."

The Q&A session has been one of the most popular and well-attended sessions at NAPO's annual conference because of the wealth of information shared. For this first time, conference attendees had the opportunity to submit questions in advance for the one-hour session. The questions came in four categories: General Operations, Business Models & Income Streams, Everyday Tactics & Techniques and Past, Present & Future.

Questions ranged from those about marketing an organizing business to how to dress in professional but comfortable clothes for those less clean organizing jobs. Russell answered a variety of queries. As one of the few professional organizers who has hired employees instead of independent contractors, she specifically fielded questions about expanding an organizing firm with employees.

The other panelists were Janine Adams, Romona Creel, Barry Izsak and Sharon Lowenheim. Monica Ricci served as panel moderator.
