Miss Black Louisiana USA's Talented Teen Takes Her Message Beyond State Boundaries
Tori Turner Scheduled to Make Speaking Engagements in Mississippi and Arkansas
Online, April 27, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Miss Black Louisiana USA Talented Teen 2012 Tori Turner is poised to take her message as a "change agent" beyond the boundaries of Louisiana.
Turner has spent the last three months making numerous appearances around the state of Louisiana at such events as the Martin Luther King Living the Dream Breakfast and Parade (Shreveport, LA), Audubon Zoo Soul Festival (New Orleans, LA), and the American Heart Association Heart Walk. She has also spent countless hours volunteering around the state.
She was also recently invited to Jackson, Mississippi to speak to a group of young girls through the Ridgeland Women's Auxillary on the importance of community service, volunteerism and youth entreprenuership.
After hearing about the 13 year old queen, entertainer, and speaker, the Heal the Hood Foundation of Memphis sought out Turner in their Living the Dream Telethon. This year the telethon targeted anti-bullying, and has put the spotlight on the devastating effects that bullying can bring, such as low self-esteem, depression, homicide and suicide.
The Living the Dream Telethon is backed by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. The telethon has brought such celebrity guests as Master P, Romeo, Dewayne Woods, K. Michele, Kevin Davidson, Vivica A. Fox, Drumma Boy, Memphitz, The OMG Girlz and Tiny just to name a few.
During the month of June, Turner will travel to Arkansas as the teen spokesmodel for the West Coast based cosmetics company, Diva Couture Cosmetics Inc.
Turner is also poised to make appearances at several upcoming events, including:
• Black Girls Rock-New Orleans
• The Bayou Soul Writers Conference Youth Events
• The Crimestoppers/Q 93 Teen Peace Summit
• Miss Black Louisiana Day at the Legislature
• Parade of Pearls Pageant
• Storybook Ball
• Baton Rouge Recreation Department Community Fair
