Doha, Qatar, March 3, 2015 (Newswire.com) - The Qatar-based Trading and Contracting Company, UrbaCon (UCC), headed by Moataz Al Khayyat. CEO, is making great headway in the construction of the Mall of Qatar, which when completed later this year will be one of the largest shopping mall complexes in the world.
Tipped to open in the autumn of 2015, the Mall of Qatar will welcome an estimated 20 million customers per year and aims to be a superior international destination for retail, leisure and entertainment alike. The Mall boasts facilities that are second to none with 400 high-end luxury double-fronted shops, an exciting array of fine food and beverage outlets from across the world as well as incomparable entertainment facilities. The Mall of Qatar will offer a premium concierge lounge and indoor/outdoor cafés throughout the complex to keep customers comfortable all day.
We have undertaken a diverse array of projects over the last three years, ranging from palaces, hotels and football stadiums to delicate marine works and expansive island resorts. Currently, UCC has many projects on the drawing board and under tender, ranging from resort complexes such as at Salwa, waterfront developments, football stadia, and of course, the completion within this coming year of one of our flagship properties, the Mall of Qatar.

A luxury 5-star hotel sits within the vast building, as well as a signature restaurant on the outer face surrounded by terraces overlooking the luxury court making up for the other 82 eateries. The exterior of the entire Mall will be animated with storefronts, cafes and extensive landscaping to connect to customers as soon as they drive into the 7000 space valet-serviced car park.
Mr Moataz Al Khayyat’s Contracting and Trading Company UCC will build the Mall of Qatar for an estimated cost of up to $1 billion US Dollars. The 4,176,000 square feet shopping centre, that covers the equivalent area of 50 FIFA football pitches will be adjacent to a brand new FIFA 2022 World Cup stadium and will have a access to its own dedicated station on Doha's new metro line. The centre will have more than 1,750,000 square feet of retail leasable space on three levels, along with air-conditioned underground and surface parking.
The Mall of Qatar is but one of hundreds of major construction projects underway in Qatar. The upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022 is playing a major role in this growth and development, as well as Qatar's commitment to become a regional tourism destination.
UrbaCon Trading & Contracting has been involved in several huge projects over the last few years and has become one of the most respected building contractors in Qatar. In addition to the Mall of Qatar, included among its projects are the Banana Island Resort, the Sheraton Doha Hotel and Convention Centre, and the Lekhwiya Stadium in Al Duhail.
