Mobility at last! - Launching STANDIVARIUS aero, the thinnest Laptop Stand in the World
STANDIVARIUS announces today the release of its ultra-portable laptop stand - aero, bringing true innovation to the world of mobile ergonomics, addressing intensive laptop users experiencing back, neck or wrist pains.
Online, September 28, 2010 (Newswire.com) - The development of the STANDIVARIUS stand began in early 2009 in US, while the prototyping and manufacturing were conducted in Europe. During a year period, tens of prototypes were tested. The prototype-phase was followed by 5 months entirely dedicated to assessing aero in real-life conditions to insure an unmatched experience and safety for the user.
Smith Newnam, the industrial designer who supervised the development, declared: "The prototype phase proved to be a deceptively complex task given the high number of self-imposed constraints. When creating a useful yet beautiful object, work evolves into very complex constructs (...) and only then you get to something that, yes, looks so simple and intuitive to everyone. In our case, towards the end there were so many cardboard prototypes that the design studio looked more like a modern art exhibition."
The technology used in the stands manufacturing is employed from aeronautics and automotive industries: a German engineered material - an ultralight aluminum alloy composite - offering superior strength and long term resistance under intensive use.
STANDIVARIUS aero uses an ingenuous concept to attach the stand to the laptop's underside, so the ergonomic benefits are now incorporated directly into the laptop itself. The user has an ergonomic workstation ready within seconds, eliminating thus the annoying and time consuming setup so typical to all the other laptop stands in the market. Weighing just 135gr (4oz) and measuring a mere 2.5mm (0.1in) in thickness, aero is now the thinnest laptop stand in the world.
Because of its uncontested portability, aero represents an effective solution for intensive laptop users such as consultants, business travelers and students for whom the mobility is critical but who also account for one of the highest rates of back and neck injuries due to the unhealthy working posture.
"The aim, from the very beginning, was to create a truly portable stand by focusing on what the users perceived important in our studies: very low weight and small size, simplicity in handling and not least the aesthetics. What we achieved with aero is an entirely new user experience. The ergonomics features are now "built-into" the laptop so the user can set it up in a staggering 2 seconds. This is how we define true mobility." declares Marius Moldovan, CEO STANDIVARIUS.
