MODE Fashion App Is Helping Fashion Bloggers Realize Their Dreams of Creating Their Own Brands

Mobile app MODE is building the bridge to turn fashion bloggers into Internet celebrities and helping them create their own brands through China's manufacturing industry.

Mobile fashion app MODE, developed by YeDao Tech Inc., is looking to help fashion bloggers expand their reach and popularity by giving those with the most followers a chance to develop their own brand through China’s manufacturing industry. The app itself allows users to track fashion trends and discover the latest trending styles and celebrities’ looks. Bloggers utilize the app to showcase their style, work and unique voice in the fashion world.

For bloggers whose reach is in the tens of thousands of followers, MODE will supply three to five items of clothing every month for them to dress and take photos and then upload the content to be viewed by the app’s users.

"Although based in Asia, MODE has an international team, and we hope to encourage employees to cultivate innovation while supporting them through the trails and errors associated with it as well as provide support as they launch new startups."

Daniel Ma, Founder of MODE

For fashion bloggers already reaching millions of followers, MODE will help them create their own fashion brand by connecting them with manufacturing supply chains in China and help to set up on-line stores for each blogger and their merchandise.

MODE bloggers can also sell their products in pre-sell or limited edition. Pre-sell can help the team learn market demands and control the production cost. Limited edition can keep bloggers’ loyal customers interested and also draw in more customers to their brand. When a user makes a purchase, the order will be directly transferred to the manufacturer's ERP system, and the manufacturers will provide subsequent production, logistics and after-sales services. MODE’s platform will make profits by commission, which will be relatively light.  Bloggers will not need to pay anything and will be supported by a design and production team. Bloggers will enjoy a very attractive commission based on product sales.

"For those Chinese foreign trade companies who have hundreds of millions dollars in annual sales, their production capacity and cross-border transport system is very mature and they basically have already built their own overseas warehouse. Currently, MODE has more than 30 such large merchants working in partnership on this endeavor,” says Daniel Ma, the founder of MODE.

In addition, MODE has the ability to successfully operate a brand owned by a blogger. Last year, MODE created an online store for the blogger in Weibo (Chinese Twitter). After six months of operation, the store achieved 1.7 million fans and 20 million in revenue. For bloggers who have their own brands, this partnership will allow them to create their own brand logos to add their personal touch to their brands.

Currently, there are 300,000 registered users in the MODE platform, about 30,000 DAU, and about 300 exclusive signatory bloggers. MODE team consists of almost 20 people and also has cooperated editors and photography team overseas. The founder Daniel Ma graduated from MIT, is a serial entrepreneur, and also among the top three members of Daling.com, a well-known Chinese e-commerce. CTO Huang Chao served as general manager of Oracle R&D in China, and has 13 years of experience in commercial software development.

MODE is still growing after the launch of the platform and is looking to increase the number of users and exclusive bloggers. MODE is also hoping to expand its international reach as well as address challenges such as recommending users’ opinions and ideas in their native language.

“3M and Google are the companies that I appreciate the most because they have a culture of innovation,” adds Ma. “Although based in Asia, MODE has an international team, and we hope to encourage employees to cultivate innovation while supporting them through the trails and errors associated with it as well as provide support as they launch new startups.”

MODE app is available for download for both Apple iTunes and Google Play. To learn more about MODE, visit WhatsMode.com.
