Modern Family's Sofia Vergara

Online, December 20, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Sofia Vergera, the sexy and seductive actress of Columbian origins, was nominated for the Golden Globe awards in the "Best Supporting Actress - Series, Miniseries or Television Film" category for her role as Gloria in ABC's hit comedy series Modern Family. This is Sofia's second consecutive Golden Globe nomination. She has received her previous nominations in the year 2010. Besides the Golden Globe, she also has a record of being nominated twice in 2012 and 2011 for the Emmy awards in the same category. Along with Sophia, her co-star, Eric Stonestreet also got a nomination. Modern Family, in a whole, was nominated for the Golden Globe in the "Best Television Series" category.

Sofia who was, herself present for the announcing the nominations, said that Modern family is the best thing which has happened to her as an actress. The "Meet The Browns" star has a Columbian origin but shifted base to the United States in the 90's following a personal tragedy, where her elder brother was murdered in a kidnap attempt. She was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in the year 2000, but successfully fought her way through it.

The 39 year old self confessed sex symbol, plays the role of a sexy wife to Ed O'Neil' and is often ridiculed for her heavy Columbian accent. She made herself a subject of laughter in the announcement ceremony, when she misspelled the name of director Martin Scorsese. Later speaking to the press she said that she always loved to do comedy because she thought, she was incapable of doing anything serious. She joked about her mispronunciation saying that the Golden Globe committees choose her to announce the nominations, so that they could laugh about her accent and pronunciation later on.

Meanwhile, in Los Angles, the sexy star of Modern Family suffered a wardrobe malfunction. She was spotted wearing opaque leggings and a chic outfit. However, her shirt fell too short to cover her bum, which left nothing to imagination.
