Online, November 21, 2013 (Newswire.com) - 72-year-old Jerry Evans of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, saw that the kids who were waiting for the bus at the corner in front of his house were dangerously close to the road. So instead of waiting for the Metropolitan Transit Authority to take care of it, he took matters in his own hands. A former landscaper, Evans pulled back some dirt from the sidewalk, poured concrete and built a bench. Then he built two more when he saw that the first bench was crowded. He also built a retaining wall and put in flowers and rocks for landscaping - all on his own time, with his own money and without seeking recognition. One bus driver told him that it's the best looking bus stop on his route.
