Montgomery County Food Bank Heralds in 6th Annual Golfing in the Woods on May 9
The Woodlands, TX, April 8, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Montgomery County Food Bank (MCFB) is hosting it’s 6th Annual Golfing In The Woods Golf Tournament on May 9, 2016 at Panther Trail Golf Course in The Woodlands. The golf tournament is to benefit the food insecure children, seniors and other individuals throughout our county with its various community programs.
Breakfast will be provided to kick the day off, and lunch will be served during the awards ceremony after 18 holes of fun competition for a great cause.
"We are excited to say that we have many returning sponsor this year, but are elated for the new additions in the way of supporters, food trucks and other activities on the course", said Amanda Campbell-Riddle, MCFB's Director of Special Events and Sponsorships. "Panther Trail Golf Course will be a terrific new host this year, and we anticipate the foursome and sponsorship opportunities to fill up quickly as we close in on May 9."

Beyond the 18 holes of tournament play, there will also be Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive contests. Each golfer will receive a swag bag of valuable and useful items from the generous sponsors.

Created by a group of volunteers in 1985 to serve disadvantaged families in Montgomery County, MCFB distributed nearly 8.1 million pounds of food which represents 6.75 million meals in 2015 to those in need.
As the county has grown, so has the need for the MCFB’s assistance. At conception MCFB was a door-to-door operation run out of car trunks. They now distribute more than 6.6 million meals to more than 35,000 unduplicated low-income children, adults and seniors per year and works with 52 partner agencies throughout the county from its warehouse off of Texas 242, north of The Woodlands.
MCFB is 501(c)(3) chartered by the state of Texas and is a member of the Texas Food Bank Network and Feeding America.
