Montreal Sexologist Takes Problematic Sex Ed into Her Own Hands with New Campaign- Porn Is Not Real Sex Ed

New campaign shows why expanded sex ed is more necessary than ever: without it, today's teens are learning harmful misconceptions from porn and sharing them at school.

Did you know children are getting most of their sexual education from porn? 40% of boys and 20% of girls admit to looking for porn to learn about sex, and they end up getting an idea of sex that is far from the reality.

•93% of boys and 62% of girls are exposed to internet porn before the age of 18
•52% of boys and 26% of girls admit to looking for porn to learn what people do sexually
•83% of boys have seen group sex on the internet
•38% of boys and 22% of girls have seen bondage online

Join us in our pursuit for better sexual education for children. Sexpressions is a sex education company that develops and distributes sex-education materials for schools, clinics and parents alike.

The issue of sexual education is extremely crucial if we want to deal with society's endemic problem addressing sexual issues properly. Schools are the institutions where derogatory and discriminatory language is often learned and incorrect, harmful information is spread through crowds, but it's also where these can be addressed early on.

The truth of the matter is we have very little control over what children are exposed to.

With the touch of a finger, children can access a façade of what sex is: porn. To ensure students are not misinformed, unaware, or embarrassed about the inevitable discussion of sexuality, we need to provide it for them.

"Porn exists. It is everywhere today. But this should not replace sexuality education and kids are using it to do just that. It is time for our kids to get the information they really need." says Stephanie Mitelman, certified sexuality educator and President of Sexpressions.

There will always be objections to how our culture changes but we have to consider reality; it is constantly changing, and so should our education system. Explicit videos on the internet can no longer be the source for sexual education, porn is not real.

Let's talk about it.
