Local Companies Hiring At NAB Career Day Brings 30+ Industry Recruiters. PinkSlipMixers and TheViralPublicity.com to host panel discussion on how to use social media to find a job. NAB Show will be April 13, 2011 in Las Vegas.
Online, April 7, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Consistent with the April 1, 2011 unemployment report, hiring sentiment by executives and hiring managers in the broadcast industry are starting to show more signs of openness to hire. Human resource representatives from over 30 broadcast media companies and networks are scheduled to attend the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Career Day on April 13, 2011. Of the 80,000+ attendees to the NAB Show, Career Day organizers expect over 1,500 job seekers to meet and greet recruiters about career opportunities. In addition, there will be panel discussions to find a job, such as using social media effectively to find a new position.
The NAB Education Foundation in partnership with the Broadcast Education Association, Pinkslipmixers.com and TheViralPublicity.com will host its annual spring Career Day during the NAB Show on April 13, 2011 from 9:30 AM to 3 PM.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook 2010-2011 Edition, employment in the broadcast media is expected to grow about 7% to 13% through 2018. But people seeking entry-level jobs as technicians in broadcasting are expected to face keen competition in major metropolitan areas.
NAB Career Day provides an excellent opportunity for media companies to network with experienced professionals, college students and entry-level job seekers interested in a career in the broadcast industry. In addition to a variety of media recruiters, NAB Career Day includes a series of one-on-one career coaching and informative panel sessions, such as "The 'Social Network' of the Job Search: Using the Latest Social Media Tactics in Your Search" hosted by PinkSlipMixers.com and TheViralPublicity.com.
"We are excited to help the broadcast media industry by connecting them with job leads", says Edwin Duterte, founder of PinkSlipMixers. "We have asked local and seasoned news anchor Dave Courvoisier to give his insights about how broadcasters can find jobs in this changing economy. I'm sure the audience will want to hear his opinion since he is working in the industry."
Philip Dahlhiemer of TheViralPublcity.com says, "The opportunities to link traditional media broadcasting with social media are on the forefront of this career day. Recruiters are looking for those experienced individuals who can converge the two."
Career Day attendees will learn personal branding techniques, how to utilize social media during job searches, tips for beginning a career in broadcasting and discuss the broadcasting jobs of tomorrow during four interactive sessions, held between 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. There will be networking opportunities available with professionals from a variety of broadcast and media companies, including ABC, Aspera, Inc.; Edge Technology Services; Entercom Communications Corp; Ericsson Television; Gannett Co., Inc.; PBS; Production Hub; Univision and VeriCorder Technology.
Participants interested in registering as a recruiter for the event must complete the recruiter registration form available on PinkSlipMixers.com. All registered recruiters will receive EEO credit for participating in Career Day.
