More Men Getting Plastic Surgery Than Ever
Online, January 16, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Generally, a plastic surgeon's office is a woman's playground. Any woman can walk in and instantly think of a new procedure or new injection that they'd like to get to improve their appearance. But the times are changing. The stereotypical gender roles when it comes to cosmetic surgery are slowly being evened out. More men are getting plastic surgery than ever before.
Male patients often go into plastic surgeon's offices with the same worries as women - adult acne, fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin and nose jobs are all among the characteristics that men would like to correct. Many more of them are also getting Botox, or "Brotox" as it's referred to in some offices. Lipo and facial fillers are also common among male patients.
And although the treatments are the same, men who are getting plastic surgery tend to ease into it a little slower than their counterpart female patients. Rather than lining up the procedures one right after the other, these gentlemen are doing little corrections very slowly so that friends and family won't notice a drastic difference right away. They want to avoid having any healing or down time in order to go back to work right away.
Men are also getting more and more cosmetic dentistry procedures. More men are turning to their dentist for help creating a cosmetically perfect smile. Teeth whitening, dental alignments and even dentures are being used to correct many manly smiles.
So doctors who once only stocked Vogue and Cosmopolitan in their waiting rooms are beginning to add Sports Illustrated and Men's Health to the tables.
