Morgenweb.de Is Re-Launched With Atex Web CMS
morgenweb.de now benefits from full integration with its print editorial system and improves its position as Rhein-Neckar's leading regional news portal
Online, June 7, 2012 (Newswire.com) - morgenweb.de, the leading news platform for the Rhein-Neckar region of Germany, has successfully completed a major re-launch. The portal chose Atex Web CMS as the web presence of Mediengruppe Dr. Haas, owner of the newspapers Mannheimer Morgen, Sudhessen Morgen, Bergsträßer Anzeiger, Schwetzinger Zeitung, Hockenheimer Tageszeitung and Fränkische Nachrichten.
"The new morgenweb is bringing the future of media into our daily activities", said project manager Dieter Schwab. "There are a couple of local offerings online, but with our extensive editorial coverage across the entire metropolitan area of Rhein-Neckar, morgenweb.de has the leading edge. With the re-launch we can reach not only the classic PC users, but also users of mobile channels such as smartphones and tablets. Atex thereby allows us to fully leverage our strengths and create news packages for individual users".
These were key goals for Mannheimer Morgen and led to the selection of Atex Web CMS. The system's supported content indexing and metadata tools will help the organisation to manage online content in a much more efficient way. To be able to find content quickly and reuse any articles or images across multiple channels enables morgenweb.de to improve the content offering for its visitors.
"With this significant investment, we have taken the cross-media offering of our newspapers to another level", comments Dr. Björn Jansen, shareholder and managing director of Mediengruppe Dr. Haas. "Our goal for the re-positioning is the up-to-date and future directed preparation of news, together with the further improvement of our position as leading news platform in our region. With Atex's functions for user interaction, we look forward to improved commenting and blogging activities by users".
"Another major advantage", as seen by Dieter Schwab, "is the high degree of automation of standard workflow procedures, which is offered by the solution. This reduces the workload of online editors, of technical work steps and the management of organisational processes, which gives us space to focus on our core tasks, the journalistic- and content-oriented activities".
Atex Web CMS also enables the morgenweb team to create publishing packages in different ways, depending on usage, and combine them with content types like image galleries, videos or fully researched story packages, which are then distributed automatically on themed pages. This offers the chance to create interesting web pages, which attract more users and encourage them to stay longer on site.
A fresh and clear design, an even stronger regional focus and user friendly technical functions are the most visible changes of the re-launch. To enable the most important global news as well as local news from the individual's neighbourhood, to be captured quickly by the user, the web page was horizontally enlarged and enriched by elements which allow a combination of top news from different categories.
Kristian Putz, sales manager online, Mediengruppe Dr. Haas, adds that, from the perspective of the media sales team, it has been a positive move. "We are sure that the new technical possibilities given by Atex Web CMS of an up-to-date and modern presence, will bring our activities in marketing our online advertising offerings, a significant step forward".
