Mountain View Concepts Expresses Community Commitment

There is still some time to go before the walk takes place, but the Mountain View Concepts team has already helped raise over $500 – the seventh team (out of 45) to do so. While Cody is pleased that his associates are being recognized for this achievement, he realizes that what’s most important is the good that the American Cancer Society can do with this money.

“Almost everyone at Mountain View Concepts has had some experience with the effects of breast cancer, so this fight is personal,” Cody explained. “We’re not the only ones, either. Just last year, over 230,000 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in the U.S., and sadly there were over 40,000 deaths. The only cancer that kills more women is lung cancer. By supporting the American Cancer Society, we’re helping to fund research, provide care programs, and instill education and prevention initiatives. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is an important event, and I’m glad that we’re a part of it.”

Mountain View Concepts’ President Sets Goals for Philanthropy

Mountain View Concepts’ role in the Strides Against Breast Cancer walk was not a happy coincidence. Cody sets goals for the organization to be involved in charitable events throughout the year, and then looks for the right opportunities.

“We have goals for every facet of the operation, not just the traditional areas like sales and revenue,” clarified Cody. “Team growth, promotions, and customer satisfaction are all measurable quantities, and we set targets for those metrics every year. In a similar way, we consider how many charitable events we want to take part in and then look for the organizations that line up with our personal values and company mission.”

Rather than mandate generosity by making the decision to support certain causes himself, Cody asks team members to suggest causes with which they’d like to get involved. This ensures that the support Mountain View Concepts provides is genuine – not a company requirement.
