MOVband UK at the Kent Creative Learning Showcase

MOVband UK was recently in Kent to encourage school kids to MOVe more and be fit. Partnered with School Skills Hub, MOVband UK was on hand to give not only fitness MOVes and exercise and tips but also school fundraiser ideas and assistance.

Doors opened to imaginative workshops and presentations on different and creative ways for children and young people to learn. Seventy school children from two schools in Kent went on a special trip to the Kent County Showground to try first hand, some of the new ways of interactive learning. They participated in activities such as dance, animation production, and creating a newspaper on the spot.

Among the companies that were on-hand to give this special learning experience was MOVband UK. Ten lucky kids got to lead the others on a 30-minute MOVchallenge routine with Kevin Matthew from MOVband UK. This MOVchallenge routine was specifically created to encourage the children to enjoy exercise, MOVe more and keep fit.

The kids also jumped on an exciting journey back in history. They viewed reconstructions of a 1940's shop, bombed out street and air raid shelter reminiscent of World War Two, all within a classic double deck bus. They were introduced to companies that teach the skills needed for animation, grammar and punctuation; or bring creatures from around the world into schools to raise awareness in science and geography.

MOVband UK, in partnership with School Skills Hub, showcased a booth at the Creative Learning Showcase. Their joint mission was to share their successful fundraising model to Parent and Teacher Associations. Now, for schools looking to encourage children and families to have a healthier lifestyle, they sat down with the KM charity team staff about 'Walk to School' opportunities.

These are just a few of the ideas on inspirational and fun ways for children to learn. This free event held on June 6th was designed primarily for teachers, school staff and was attended by community groups in and around Kent. It brought together private and voluntary organisations with local and national government to share ideas on learning that is not necessarily confined to the classrooms.

Roger Gough, Cabinet Member for Education Learning and Skills was quoted as saying: "It is wonderful to see so many examples (of how) learning can be fun and interactive, children remember so much more that way. This is a great event for anyone involved in schools to see and experience.... the many opportunities available to them."
