MTS Opts for More SmartLabs STBs

SmartLabs has once again won the tender to supply IPTV set-top boxes to MTS, the leading telecommunications operator in Russia and CIS.

Based on an open request for proposals with prequalification, in the nearest future SmartLabs will provide to the operator a batch of advanced SML-292 HD Premium STBs.

This is going to be the second delivery of this model to MTS and the third operator's contract for SmartLabs IPTV set-top boxes.

SmartLabs SML-292 Premium STBs will empower MTS customers with the most advanced interactive entertainment. In addition to supporting the highest picture quality (HDTV and 3DTV), the STBs have embedded HDDs offering access to a variety of Value Added Services, such as Local PVR, PushVoD, Pause LiveTV, recording, storing and playback of user generated content.

The STBs support multiple interfaces, including USB, optical SPDIF, HDMI with HDCP, etc.

For the first time ever, this delivery will include universal remote controls which can be easily configured to control multiple devices at once, including STBs, TVs, DVD players, or even a sound system or audio receiver.

"We are happy that the SML-292 Premium STBs broad functionality, ease of use and appealing design have been appreciated by MTS and its customers. We are looking forward to continuing collaboration between SmartLabs and MTS as the interactive television grows," said Mikhail Grachev, SmartLabs CEO.
