Enter to Win
When director Rob de Heer is found murdered on the set of his primetime soap Chrystal Falls, the investigation turns to a contest he recently launched, urging viewers to send in their own real life stories to be used on the show. Contestants are vying for a chance to have a character shaped after them, as well as a two hundred thousand dollar cash prize. The police are convinced the key to Rob's murder lies in the four finalists who have been invited to spend two weeks in a mansion in the Hollywood Hills. They recruit Rob's young assistant Jeremy to keep an eye on them under the guise of shooting a documentary on how they landed a part on the soap.
Twenty-four year old contestant Corinne has spent all her life below the poverty line. Outfitted by the local "Dressed for Success" chapter, she makes her way to a job interview when she stumbles upon a beautiful lost engagement ring. She can't resist putting it on, and soon finds herself trapped in the fantasy life she has projected to her new co-workers.
Michael has learned the hard way that it's not enough to be declared "not guilty" by the jury. Having lost his graphic design business and on the way to divorce, he wound up at the center of the investigation in his wife's untimely death. While there is not enough evidence to convict him, it doesn't lift the cloud of suspicion he has been living under. Desperate to clear his name, he seizes this opportunity to tell his side of the story on national TV.
Trish, a housewife from Illinois, is in a rut. Largely ignored by her husband and children, she starts to question her own self worth. When she finds her husband is cheating on her, she follows him in a rental car. She sees him causing a hit and run accident that leaves a young man a quadriplegic. Being the only witness to the accident, she suddenly becomes a "person of interest" to the police. She lands her husband in jail, only to find her family turning against her.
Stephen, a thirty-eight year old construction worker, recently lost his wife Irene to ovarian cancer. Irene was a devoted fan of de Heer's soap and faithfully watched the show. She even opted for a wig styled after one of the characters. Unable to cope with her illness and resulting death, Stephen is haunted by having let her down. He finally decides to revisit the wig shop, whose owner managed to make Irene feel special those last agonizing months. He unexpectedly finds himself falling for the kind, caring saleswoman. But too ashamed to admit he hadn't accompanied his late wife to the fittings, he soon struggles in a relationship that is marred by his initial lie.
While Rob's assistant Jeremy observes these four contestants, he gets increasingly concerned about his own safety. Could fame and fortune have a deadly appeal?
