Musical Tribute to the British Invasion Now on CD From Bandhouse Gigs

Double disc, forty track CD captures excitement of the Sixties.

The sounds of the Sixties come alive on the new double CD, Strathmore Presents a Tribute to the British Invasion. Produced by Bandhouse Gigs, the area's premier producer of one-of-a-kind tribute concerts, the two-disc set, recorded live at the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda, MD, presents 40 of the period's best loved hits, performed by a stellar lineup of the Washington area's most popular musicians.

Ignited by the Beatles' electrifying appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, a firestorm of British bands blazed across America over the next two years, each hoping to secure their share of stardom. "Our tribute recaptures the excitement of the period 1964 to 1966, when British acts dominated the American charts," says Ronnie Newmyer, a founder of Bandhouse Gigs, "It was this music more than any other that made millions of Americans fall in love with rock and roll forever."

Included on the CD are songs from legendary performers such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds, the Zombies, the Hollies, Dave Clark 5 and Herman's Hermits, all faithfully reproduced by some of the Washington area's most notable artists. Eric Brace and Last Train Home, 4 out of 5 Doctors, Patty Reese, Jon Carroll, Julia Nixon, The Hall Monitors, Paper Umbrella, the Tone Rangers and Margot MacDonald are just some of the more than 60 musicians appearing on the album. Listeners will experience the thrill of the live performances, carried along on a musical journey that stretches from the British "beat groups" to the "swinging London" sound, from Gerry and the Pacemakers and the Animals to Petula Clark and Tom Jones.

The album is available through ITunes and CDBaby.com. For more information, visit www.bandhousegigs.com..

ABOUT BANDHOUSE GIGS

Bandhouse Gigs, founded in 2004 by musicians and producers Ronnie Newmyer, Chuck Sullivan, David Sless and Danny Schwartz, is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization that brings together the Washington area's most talented artists to pay tribute to the world's most iconic musicians and musical moments. Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, The Band, Woodstock and the British Invasion are just some of the songwriters and events that have been celebrated in concert, with classic songs interpreted in often surprising, always inspired ways. Bandhouse productions are big affairs, usually numbering 40-60 musicians, engineers, producers and technicians, along with a core volunteer group, to stage what have become must-see events. Thousands of concert goers have attended the sold out tribute shows at such stellar venues as the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda, MD, the Barns at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA, and the Ram's Head in Annapolis, MD. Bandhouse Gigs shows, DVDs, and CDs have also helped benefit grassroots charities such as Hungry for Music, working to bring positive musical and creative experiences to underprivileged children and Hopeline for addiction counseling and treatment.
