Musician Sam Chase Taps into Family Roots in New Album
Online, August 26, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Boston musician Sam Chase keeps home in his heart in his newest album Every Time I'm Home.
"When you come from a great family, you realize how important it is to have that support and friendship. I feel genuinely lucky to have family and friends who I love spending time with - it's inevitable that the home I grew up in has made its way into my music."
Those words of gratitude come from the singer-songwriter as he embarks on the promotion of his latest album. His music has been described as "a sound that quenches the thirst of music lovers of all ages looking for the best of today's up-and-coming artists."
As a multi-instrumentalist, Chase plays the guitar, drums, and piano on the CD. He's also the album's co-producer. His lyrics and vocal styling evoke a sound that fringes on Americana, yet has its roots in the alternative folk-pop genre. His message is close to home, a lyrical honesty aiming to inspire his listeners to find their own voice in the appreciation of family and friendship in everyday life.
In his young career, Chase has shared the stage with artists such as Rusted Root, Jonathan Edwards, Marc Cohn and Lori McKenna. He has received honors winning the 2010 Connecticut Folk Festival Songwriting Contest and was named a finalist in the 2009 Solarfest Songwriting Contest. He has also been featured in Music Connection magazine and is played on radio stations across the country.
Chase is influenced by artists such as James Taylor, Marc Cohn, and John Mayer. He carries the torch with a full schedule of live performances, both as a solo artist and with his backup band, and he credits his family as his biggest musical influence.
"Whether I was sifting through my parents' huge collection of albums or playing drums in my family's bands, or just picking up every instrument I could find, I've always had a great love for music since I was a kid," Chase says. "It was a home filled with music and, most importantly, love and support for any dream any of us five kids could dream. That, for me, is the theme embedded in Every Time I'm Home - the appreciation of those around you in good as well as not-so-good times, in any walk of life."
Chase continues to push his own boundaries as a musician. In 2008, after earning a degree in music production and engineering, he also turned his attention to song writing. In 2009, Chase released his first album Songs for Someone, a collection of songs that quickly established his unique style of writing and producing. With the sophomore release of Every Time I'm Home, Chase adds a personal connection with his audience.
