Must We Live With Chronic Pain?

Learning about the health benefits of holistic treatment(s) and creating a plan that works best for you.

This world has become extremely fast-paced, leaving very little time to care for self (or at least that the excuse I've heard from many people). Most people feel some sense of stress and tension, as a matter of fact, so many of us have become so "used" to it lingering and hanging around, that many times we actually don't feel the stress and/or tension that's adversely affecting our bodies, spirits and lives.

Is pain a constant part of your life?
If the answer is yes (which, most likely it is, as most of us have some sort of chronic pain that we learn to "live" with), the physical symptoms that you're feeling is your body's way of simply alerting you that something is wrong. Traditional medicine treat the symptom(s) but not the root cause of the problem.

This chronic pain can be caused by many variables e.g., stress/tension, exercise, repetitive motion, injury(ies) that never healed properly, scar tissue, etc.; and many people confidently and sub-consciously reach for "meds" to "treat" this pain. More often than not, Western medication often "treat" the symptoms, which likely reduces and minimizes the pain, but the core problem hasn't been productively cared for.

Holistic (I refuse to call it "alternative" as it's innately embedded within us...everything that we need to live on this earth was created for us, by our Creator--not man.) treatment focuses on preventative care, and the actual core of the problem. Ranging from herbal remedies - Yoga, Reiki - Therapeutic Massage & Reflexology; to simply soaking in the tub for 15-minutes 2x's per week - tennis ball therapy; these practices usually produce healthy and noticeable change.

As, a Lmt (licensed massage therapist), it's very important that I take care of my mind, body and spirit as I utilize all three to effectively facilitate, healthy and positive change within my client's body. I've found that Yoga (which strengthens my core along with diaphragmatic breathing), receiving frequent massage (increases blood circulation, breaks up adhesions and scar tissue, increases ROM, moves waste out of the body, & increases endorphins) and soaking in a combination of Epsom & Sea Salts 2 - 3x's per week (reduces stress from achy muscles & assists with the drawing out of toxins) helps me tremendously with the chronic pain that I'd learned to live with. There's a plethora of treatment plans that can be implemented and help to bring lasting relief, it simply depends on what works best for you.
