MV Soul Concepts Hosts 2nd Annual Martha's Vineyard Summer Madness Music Conference and Festival
The 'Ladies First' theme features a celebration of Black music and so much more!
Online, May 28, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The picturesque island of Martha's Vineyard will be the epicenter of non-stop fun and excitement for the urban professional as MV Soul Concepts hosts the 2nd annual Martha's Vineyard Summer Madness Music Conference and Festival August 8-10, 2014 at Oak Bluffs' Dreamland. This year's theme, "Ladies First," pays homage to the dynamic women of Black music and entertainment who embody power, philanthropy and positivity as essential qualities to be a real Boss Lady in today's male-dominated industries.
The weekend-long music celebration kicks off Friday night with a classic old school party, "Tru School Hip Hop Concert," featuring a live performance from legendary artist and activist MC Lyte and special guest DJ Monie Love. The talented R&B songstress Amel Larrieux headlines Saturday night's sultry R&B Showcase, featuring a DJ set by the world renowned DJ Beverly Bond, founder of Black Girls Rock. Award-winning actress and jazz vocalist Suzzanne Douglas will keep the party going during Sunday morning's Jazz Brunch. The MV Summer Madness roster continues with jammed-packed, back-to-back days of events featuring "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta" star Deb Antney; Tameka "Tiny" Harris of VH1's "T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle;" talent manager Sonja Norwood (Brandy and Ray J); former Flava Unit executive Dedra Tate; and Atlantic Records Senior Vice President of Brand Partnerships Joi Pitts, among others. It all culminates with an exclusive show-stopping V.I.P performance Sunday night by music icon Lauryn Hill that will leave Martha's Vineyard partygoers speechless!
Janon Costley, Managing Member for MV Soul Concepts, said, "The 'Ladies First' theme increases the excitement of this year's star-studded festivities. We've handpicked women who have been trailblazers in music and entertainment as executives and/or performers but who have also used their platform to make a difference in the lives of young women of color. They are multi-dimensional as entrepreneurs, entertainers and humanitarians who constantly reinvent themselves to enrich our community."
"It's been a tradition for many years for African Americans from all over the country to choose Oak Bluffs as its premier vacation spot," added Norman Hall, Managing Member for MV Soul Concepts and Martha's Vineyard resident. "Now, MV Summer Madness provides vacationers and lovers of R&B, Hip Hop, House and Jazz music an opportunity to experience the totality of urban music culture in the iconic setting of 'good times' Oak Bluffs."
