NAFA Becomes Charter Member of The Center For Professional Fleet Certification
NAFA Fleet Management Association is part of a new alliance created to help boost the role of fleet management throughout the business world.
Online, December 9, 2010 (Newswire.com) - NAFA Fleet Management Association is proud to announce it is among the initial members of The Center for Professional Fleet Certification ("The Center"), an alliance of fleet industry associations, entities, and universities formed to advance the fleet management profession by establishing standards of educational excellence.
This new alliance endorses and promotes the Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) and Certified Automotive Fleet Specialist (CAFS) programs - both originally designed by NAFA -- as the individual certification programs of choice in the fleet industry.
"The Center provides a means for diverse organizations, with fleet management related common interests, to work together in the continuing pursuit of professional excellence in the fleet management profession for both individuals and organizations," explained NAFA Member Marvin Fletcher, CAFM, who was elected President of The Center. "It is a unique resource to aide these groups in their commitments to continuing education and to promote the establishment of widely accepted standards of achievement by members and allied schools. These efforts will promote recognition of these achievements in the fleet profession to employers and others benefiting from the accomplishment of individual and organization fleet management certifications."
Initial Regular Members of The Center include the National Conference of State Fleet Administrators (NCSFA), Rocky Mountain Fleet Management Association (RMFMA), and the Florida Association of Governmental Fleet Administrators (FLAGFA). Initial Advisory members include U.S. Government Services Administration (GSA)/FedFleet Advisory Council, International Automotive Remarketers Alliance (IARA), National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA), Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS), State of Ohio, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In addition, several colleges and universities are part of the alliance having accredited the certification programs including Ferris State University in Michigan, Ranken Technical College in Missouri, and the Community College of the Air Force.
The members of this alliance will collectively help the CAFM and CAFS programs achieve critical mass within the fleet management profession and industry. Rather than go about it alone and face a situation in which there are numerous educational designations acquired through various levels of achievement, the members are utilizing strength through numbers. The alliance is stating that the CAFM and CAFS designations provide the most comprehensive fleet management education; and by doing so are creating a universal standard - something the fleet profession sorely needs.
NAFA has long believed that fleet education was the key for the fleet management profession to become recognized in the business community. Through the Association's Fleet Management Seminars (FMS and AFMS), its push to have fleet education earn college credits, and the creation of the CAFS program to help transition people into fleet management careers earlier in their professional lives, NAFA has been at the forefront of this issue. Being a member of The Center lets NAFA benefit from the knowledge, reputation, and marketing skills of other organizations to fulfill the Association's educational goals.
