Nathaniel Tower Releases Debut E-book: A Reason To Kill

High school teacher Nathaniel Tower releases first e-book available through Muse It Up Publishing.

High school teacher and short fiction author Nathaniel Tower announced the release of his debut e-book novel. A Reason to Kill, available July 8th, through MuseItUp Publishing, is a psychological thriller about a serial killer and the detective trying to stop him. "I wanted to focus on both the criminal mind and the mind of the law, so I chose to alternate the point of view between the killer and the detective," says Tower.

Tower teaches high school English in the Midwest. He also edits and maintains his own online literary magazine, Bartleby Snopes. "Although I don't have any background in law or criminology, I do find the criminal mind fascinating," Tower commented.

According to Tower, the story revolves around the Do-Good Killer, a man who only targets ex-convicts as his victims, and Detective Clint Geminer. Both characters are motivated by the tragic loss of their fathers at a young age. As the story progresses, the Do-Good Killer becomes more violent and Detective Geminer becomes more desperate.

"I had to go to some dark places to develop these characters," says Tower, "but I really enjoyed telling their story."

Tower has published almost 100 of his short stories and is always working on new ones. Due to the bizarre nature of a lot of his stories he considers himself an absurdist, but A Reason to Kill doesn't fit that mould. "This novel at first glance seems a lot more serious than much of my work," Tower says. While he doesn't plan to ever use the Do-Good Killer again, he does have plenty of other characters to write about.

"This is my first novel, and I definitely plan to continue to write. I've always felt like the short story suits me a little better, but I wouldn't be surprised if another novel comes out of my computer at some point," Tower comments.

According to Tower, the book is currently available in Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Sony and most other e-book formats from the publisher and other online retailers. For more information you can contact Tower at [email protected].
