National Day of Action-Rally For America in IL, NV, NJ, PA, RI, TX and WA

Senate Majority Richard Durbin, the second most powerful person in the US Senate will join thousands of immigrant leaders, advocates and allies to Rally for America on April 10, 2010, in Chicago.

MIAMI-When some young immigration reform activists demonstrated outside Senator Richard Durbin's Chicago office last month, they called on him to "take the lead" on comprehensive immigration reform. The Illinois lawmaker issued a clear signal of support, reiterated his interest in swift reform before adding this topper: "[I]f I never do another thing in the rest of my Senatorial career," he said, "I'm going to pass that Dream Act."

The Dream Act will allow thousands of young people to contribute to our nation's future. As noted by the majority of attendees at the March for Reform in D.C. last month the Hispanic/Latino communities are sounding off loud and clear.

The Hispanic/Latino movement for Immigration Reform is booming in supportive droves. Recently several voices from the Hispanic/Latino entertainment communities have been expressive from coast to coast. Cuban-American singer-songwriter Gloria Estefan, Cuban-American actor Andy Garcia, comedian George Lopez and actress Eva Longoria to name a nominal few who have been voices for thousands of Hispanic and Latinos across the United States.

Keeping in line with notable Hispanics in our AMERICAN history one particular man that made several contributions and paved direction in the music, television and entertainment industries is Desi Arnaz.

Desi Arnaz was a Cuban-born American musician, actor, television producer and motion picture studio owner/president. He gained international recognition for leading a Latin music band, the Desi Arnaz Orchestra. He is best known for his role as Ricky Ricardo on the classic American TV series I Love Lucy, starring with his real life wife, Lucille Ball. Together they jointly owned Desilu Productions which was established in 1948. The couple subsequently purchased RKO Motion Picture Studios and christened it Desilu Studios.

In May 2004, Desi Arnaz was recognized for his financial contributions- undocumented but legendary to some-that helped free Bay of Pigs veterans over four and half decades ago. He was a man dedicated to the "Cuban Cause."

In keeping with tradition and following in her grandfather's steps one of Desi Arnaz' granddaughters Cassandria Lucianna Carlson and her two sons Christopher Arnaz and Daniel de Arnaz of the Chicago area have confirmed their attendance to Saturday's Chicago's Rally for America!

In April 2006, Carlson's aunt Lucie Arnaz and Lucie's daughter Kate Luckinbill jointly appeared in Sonia Flew a play written by Melinda Lopez at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Florida. The play is about a woman (Sonia) who struggles to come to terms with being forced to leave Cuba at the dawn of Fidel Castro's rule. Sonia must come to terms with her past, her lost parents, her own children and her adopted country the United States of America-Sonia Flew telescopes the large cultural and political forces of a historic moment to examine their impact on the intimate lives of ordinary men and women.

In January 2010, Lucie hosted, directed and performed in Babalu-The American Songbook Goes Latin: Featuring the Music of the Desi Arnaz Orchestra. The production included a Latin big band. This was a family affair as Desi Arnaz, Jr.'s high energy was seen on the drums during all the performances.

In February 2010, Lucie Arnaz released her new album "Latin Roots" which pays great tribute to her father, Desi Arnaz Sr. Lucie co-wrote the lyrics to one of the songs on the album with her son Joe Luckinbill "The Music In Your Heart," which showcases his inherited musical talents.

Lucie is currently seeking to reprise Babalu in New York this summer.

Latin Roots can be downloaded or purchased online from Amazon, iTunes, J&R Music World or Barnes & Noble.
