The National Pollution Prevention Roundtable (NPPR) along with its partners is bringing the National Environmental Sustainability Summit (NESS) to Detroit, Michigan. NESS is a three day event from June 6 - 9 that brings together leading environmental professionals from all over the country and world to focus on the critical topic of sustainability.

This year's theme, Partnering to Grow the Green Economy, encourages participants to share effective strategies and approaches for implementing successful sustainability principles and programs. NESS provides participants with an opportunity to learn more about best practices in sustainability from a wide range of industries. Participants also have an opportunity to identify valuable connections through networking opportunities.

NESS will be hosted at the Westin Book Cadillac, included in the National Register of Historic Places, the Italian Renaissance-style hotel after being closed for over 20 years was reopened after a $200 million renovation. The reopening of the Westin Book Cadillac symbolizes the journey the City of Detroit has taken. A City once known not only for world class sports, autos, and music but also architecture, Detroit moved to an era of flight and economic depression. Detroit is now in the midst one of the largest urban renewal projects in the Midwest.

"Bringing the National Environmental Sustainability Summit to Detroit has brought forth many great opportunities for participants. Detroit provides an opportunity to connect with our colleagues across the river in Canada", stated NPPR Executive Director Jeffrey Burke, "and being in the auto center and home to many word class industries Detroit provides participants with a great venue to discuss and share best sustainable practices that create saving for companies".
