NAWBO-OC's Mentoring Program Enters Its 9th Year

Program helps women business owners reach their business goals while gaining valuable leadership skills

Launched in 2004, The NAWBO-OC mentoring program is entering its 9th year of helping women business owners achieve excellent results in their businesses and in their lives. During the past 8 years more than 200 women have experienced the power and enjoyment of receiving personal support from qualified executives and coaches to achieve breakthroughs, strengthen business acumen and gain confidence in their leadership skills. With roughly 50 participants each year; the Mentoring Program is NAWBO-OC's largest program and boasts the most qualified group of mentors anywhere, including some of Orange County's celebrated business women.

Mentee's in the NAWBO program receive an incredible value. For $300, the eight (8) month program includes: approximately 24 hours of private mentoring, attendance at three private networking events, attendance at three (3) topical training sessions, a CD library including more than 100 different papers and templates to assist with all aspects of business operations from strategic planning and goal setting to marketing and sales to human resource issues and best practices. In addition, through their own mentor, NAWBO mentee's may access other program mentors and members for help with specific needs such as legal advice, sales coaching or other technical support.

Several ingredients contribute to the program's overall success. The comprehensive matching program ensures that mentors and mentee's are a good fit for both skill needs and values; the consistency of leadership and structure provided by program founder, Dee Elliott has allowed for continual improvement without loss of continuity; and the relationships built and success achieved keeps our top mentors coming back year after year. NAWBO-OC's mentoring program is so successful that it has become a beacon for the organization. "The program requires that mentee's be NAWBO members in order to register for the program, yet we find that throughout the year many new members cite access to the Mentoring Program as their main reason for joining the organization," says Elliott.
