The Chennai-based enterprise are pioneers in engaging talent through innovation in human resources. Their newly launched ‘Skills Library and Profiling engine’ is a web-based service that offers HR tech companies and organizations already utilizing human resources information systems (HRIS) a versatile and effective tool for mapping an individual’s skills. This in turn, will enable companies to identify and retain the right talent for their business needs, which could have a positive knock-on effect in terms of business performance.
HR has historically not been part of the big data discussion – but this is an era where data, analytics and statistics are as important to HR as any other department or function. The challenge has been – and continues to be – having data in a standardized format. But this is where the Skills Library and Profiling engine comes in to its own.
As a web-based service, it does not disrupt existing platforms or HRIS. The API – available in both Mashape and GitHub – allows for enhanced flexibility to build applications and take skills data from the Skills Library and Profiling engine. It also enables complete customization.
The first component – the Skills Library – is an exhaustive lexicon of more than 100,000 tangible functional/technical skills that covers almost every function and domain. Each is organized in a manner that enables users to more effectively map the skills of staff and potential employees in a comprehensive manner. In addition, the range of skills is continually updated – both dynamically and via human intelligence – ensuring new and emerging skills are not overlooked.
The Skills Profile is an advanced application allowing for the mapping of skills and proficiencies in a standardized format. This is something currently lacking in the talentspace, where staff and potential new employee details are collated in a variety of formats – including resumes, job descriptions and professional profiles. The Skills Profile effectively ‘sits on top’ of the Skills Library, enabling users to quickly and easily create their own skills profile through a user-friendly interface.
While the back end is a large, complex menu of skills with considerable functionality – enabling organizations to create job descriptions, employee talent profiles and staff self assessment tools – the front end has been specifically developed to provide an easy user experience.
