New App Gives Women Hope After Breast Cancer
Las Vegas, NV, October 10, 2014 (Newswire.com) - P.ink has created a new app that helps women who have survived breast cancer choose a tattoo to cover the scars created by life-saving mastectomies.
The original app was launched in early 2013. It worked by connecting women with a tattoo artist who is experienced with tattooing mastectomy scar tissue. The artist would then create tattoo designs that can cover and hide scar tissue in creative and unique ways.
P.ink released an update to the app called Inkspiration that takes the idea a step further. With this new app, women are able to see what their favorite tattoos would look like on their own bodies.
A woman can take a picture of her body with the app. Then, she can choose a tattoo and paste it onto the image of herself to test the tattoo. The app also gives women the option to see different body types with displays of the most common forms of scar tissue that can result from a surgery.
So far, Inkspiration has been a success. Reviews of women nationwide are fond of the idea of being able to “try on” a tattoo before making a permanent commitment.
Although the app may seem purely cosmetic, survivors who have used the app say that it actually helps with the healing process. After a battle with breast cancer, the scars from the mastectomy serve as a constant reminder of what the woman suffered through.
The ability to cover the scars gives many woman a feeling of control again. Inkspiration is an app that gives survivors hope for a brighter, stable future.
