—R. Murali Krishna, Vibrant: To Heal and Be Whole (2012)

In DR. R. Murali Krishna's new book, "VIBRANT: To Heal and Be Whole - From India to Oklahoma City," he talks on the main components of love and commitment.

The strongest couples know and live by five components of love and commitment:

1. Love evolves
They know that love evolves, and they nurture it. Every couple has to find a reasonable way of nurturing their relationship. Know when to give and when to take. Learn to look through the other person's eyes. Learn to listen.

2. A common purpose
They have a common purpose. Strong couples share passion and a common purpose. They know what gives meaning to their lives. Most healthy people have a strong passion for something. Find a common passion. Seek it out.

3. A sense of priority
They are willing to maintain their individuality and still know when to put their spouse first. Their relationship is a priority.

4. Unconditional love
They accept their spouse unconditionally. Couples must love each other unconditionally and accept each other as they are.

5. Gratitude
They are truly grateful for each other. If we have a sense of gratitude for our spouse, we will interact with them more positively. Learn to appreciate their energy, their passion, their partnership with you. Be present in your relationship. Take the time to savor simple moments together.

If there were a sixth component to a committed marriage, it would have to be laughter. Having a sense of humor makes life more enjoyable. If you and your spouse can find humor in the simple aspects of life, your journey together will be smoother and brighter.
