Srirama says the brand strives to be the ultimate disrupter. “We wanted something that would intrigue and perhaps shock people. Imagine taking traditional Indian trims, embellishments, and kalamkari designs and putting them on things like see-through dresses and busty crop tops. Our philosophy – classy and ultra-sexy with a global twist – is what makes us unique.”
As the company’s CEO and Founder, Srirama researches and travels all over India with Creative Director Sirisha Sivalenka to truly connect with the artisans and vendors who hand-craft Nasya’s distinctive style elements. According to Srirama, the brand must first and foremost be sustainable, ethical, and morally conscious. And while pushing the envelope is important, “it’s just as important to empower, acknowledge, and help the people who bring such bold designs to life,” she says.
Nasya stands for quality and affordability, as well as fashion-forward style. But it was not easy to produce a luxurious, comfortable, uniquely crafted dress for under $200. “We spent countless hours trying to find just the right fabrics,” recalls Srirama. “After going through numerous manufacturers, traveling many miles, and facing more roadblocks than we could count, we’re finally here.”
