New Children's Book: 'I Stand Up to Bullies' Release to Coincide With Bullying Prevention Festivals

I Stand Up to Bullies

Releasing this October to coincide with the 4th Annual Say NO Bullying Festival this month in Los Angeles is a new children’s book called “I Stand Up to Bullies” by Mya, Crystal, Maurice, Christian and Maurice Jr. Bean. “I Stand Up to Bullies” illustrates the story of a little girl named Mya in an elementary school setting. Mya finds herself with a big problem. It's not learning or education-related. Her issue deals with the BIG BAD world of BULLIES.

Mya recognizes how the bully named Samuel is saying mean words to her. Mya doesn't like it. The story details how Mya gains the strength to stand up for herself by reciting positive words daily to rebuild her self-esteem. As a result, Mya gains the strength to overcome her bully through her constant positivity and the daily reinforcement of her very own self-power. It is essential to stand up for yourself, to believe in yourself, to love yourself, and to be the best person you can be in life. The Bean family’s goal is to get the book in front of every child, in every home, to dismantle bullying with positive thinking and rebuilding of one's self-esteem.

Bullying is a social issue that too often is occurring in schools, in kids’ social organization groups, sports teams, social clubs, etc. According to StopBullying.gov, bullying can be unwanted, aggressive behavior among school-aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance (www.StopBullying.gov). Where do we go from here? How do we stop bullying? The idea of social bullying (cyber-hurting someone’s reputation or embarrassing a person in public), verbal bullying (teasing, saying and writing negative things), and physical bullying (involves hurting a person’s body or possessions) is real.

Readers who wish to experience this engaging work to support bullying prevention and to help kids rebuild self-esteem can purchase “I Stand Up to Bullies” online at Books-A-Million, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.
