New CMS Enhances Usability of Greenwood County Website

Online, April 4, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Greenwood County is proud to announce the launch of their new government website - www.greenwoodsc.gov.

Those familiar with the old site will immediately notice a drastic increase in the overall usability of the website. Everything is in place and easy-to-find. Call-to-action buttons prominently displayed on the homepage direct users to popular interior pages, such as online maps, payments, and permits. Also helpful, an "I Want To..." drop down menu found in the main navigation guides users to useful online services.

The modern design combines illustration and scenic photography to give users a virtual glimpse into the serenity of Greenwood County. Interior pages draw from the dynamic homepage design to create a cohesive look and feel. Even the footer has been improved by incorporating links to the County's video tour and social networking profiles found on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

The County website has switched over to the well-known Vision CMS™ (www.visioninternet.com/visioncms) - a government-specific content management system created by Vision Internet. This CMS upgrade allows for multiple in-house staff members to easily contribute content to the website. Over 15 staff members are currently registered and trained to make these contributions. Meanwhile, a select group of "super users" with editing and publishing power will maintain quality control over what's published to the site.

A number of South Carolina's counties have also improved their online usability.
