New Company Teaches Children How To Make Edible Flying Machines
Online, August 5, 2011 (Newswire.com) - New cookery classes run by local mum encourage children to experiment and have fun with food. Cookery Doodle Doo organises themed cookery and food-craft events for children aged 2 upwards in Brighton.
Katie Elfer, Director of Cookery Doodle Doo launched the new service after experiencing the chaos of cooking with her 3 year old son "Cooking with children can be really fun and parents are constantly being reminded of the importance of teaching our children about healthy food. Cooking from scratch with fresh wholesome ingredients is a brilliant way to set a good example for our children. The problem that I and other parents often face is the time pressures and the stress of clearing up all the resulting mess! That is why I decided to come up with Cookery Doodle Doo: a kids cookery and food craft events company that supported parents by creating child-friendly, fun and educational classes - without the clearing up!"
Each cookery event has a different theme, from healthy eating; 'Tree-Hugging Food, for the Figure - Hugging Dress' which teaches weight-conscious baking for the family to making decorative edible aircraft!
The first class on 3rd September 'Flying Sundaes' guides children through the process of making and decorating their own edible airplanes, hot air balloons and space ships to top a home-made ice cream Sundae. Children will design and their own flying machine before whizzing up a tasty pudding. Families sit together at the end of the class to share and eat their creations while meeting other local parents and making new friends.
Katie Elfer, Director of Cookery Doodle Doo says "Cookery Doodle Doo's themed kids' cookery classes are all about learning new skills and having fun cooking as a family. The best bit is that parents and their children can just turn up and play; we do the planning, preparation and clearing up. Parents save time and mess at home while the kids have a ball and learn new cookery skills and recipes."
