New Documentary Focuses Lens on Relapsing Polychondritis Foundation, Racing, and Research

The Relapsing Polychondritis (RP) Foundation is pleased to announce the release of The Race of Our Lives, a documentary about Relapsing Polychondritis, an autoimmune disease.

The Relapsing Polychondritis (RP) Foundation is pleased to announce the release of The Race of Our Lives, a documentary directed by Roy Medawar.

A follow-up to 2015’s RP: The Ride of My Life, which chronicled RP Foundation Chair Nancy Linn’s journey to find purpose after her RP diagnosis, The Race of Our Lives continues that story and reveals how a singular purpose grew into a movement to spread awareness and fuel groundbreaking research for a rare disease through the platform of motorsports and in partnership with renowned medical and academic institutions.

The film visits the subjects from the 2015 film, key individuals from research partners across the United States including the National Institutes of Health, Allegheny Health Network Autoimmunity Institute, Penn RP Program at the University of Pennsylvania, New York University’s Grossman School of Medicine, and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Race for RP motorsports ambassadors, tracking the growth and evolution of the RP Foundation’s mission as well as the inception and role of Race for RP in that momentum. It also features “I Will Fight,” an original track created for the film by singer, songwriter, and producer Denise Stefanie.

“We are excited to showcase our film that helps viewers understand the RP Foundation’s purpose and efforts to advance research with the support of Race for RP. By highlighting the incredible progress being made, hearing first-hand from the researchers themselves, we want patients and their loved ones to understand we are being very intentional in our actions. They should be hopeful. We feel optimistic that we are getting closer to finding both cause and cure for RP and related autoimmune diseases,” said David Bammert, President of the RP Foundation.

“The intersection of world-class motorsports and cutting-edge research makes so much sense in this context, as it takes a team at every step to reach the finish line. By centering the many individuals from wildly different worlds brought together for this collective purpose, we hope to open a door for the viewer – not just to understand but to join this ongoing race,” added Medawar.

The Race of Our Lives makes its broadcast premiere on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@RaceforRP, Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The trailer is available now here.
