The Fearless Hour

While "Courage" is not a typical blessing offered for the holidays, it could not be more relevant in the time of a raging pandemic and unprecedented social divisions in the U.S. That's why the debut episode of a new video variety series appearing on YouTube, entitled THE FEARLESS HOUR: A Time for Saving Graces, offers insight and inspiration on the "saving grace" of Courage as Christmas 2020 approaches.

The brainchild of author, independent publisher, and book agent D. Patrick Miller, THE FEARLESS HOUR extends a "spiritual but not religious" message from the literary medium to video. Co-hosted by Miller and Dr. Tameer Siddiqui, who recently earned her doctorate from the Chicago School of Clinical Psychology, the HOUR offers educated commentary, interviews with accredited authors and experts, and some of the best independent musical talent around.

In the Courage episode now online, Dr. Tameer interviews Corinne Zupko, another mental health provider and award-winning author of FROM ANXIETY TO LOVE (by New World Library), while Americana/jazz artist Carsie Blanton is featured in three pre-recorded videos. Carsie's first song, "Buck Up," is the lead song on an album that was named one of the ten best of 2019 by National Public Radio. Finally, the episode ends with an audiovisual meditation featuring a performance of the original song "Forests" by London musician Natasha Miren coupled to a photographic montage by producer Miller.

"As a journalist, author, and publishing consultant, I've covered the rise of the spiritual-but-not-religious phenomenon for decades," says Miller, the founder of Fearless Books & Literary Services. "With Millennials and even younger people dropping out of church in droves, there has been a substantial rise in the proportion of American adults seeking spiritual sustenance outside the confines of religious institutions. THE FEARLESS HOUR is my attempt to bring the 'SBNR' experience to the energetic medium of video, rather than confining it to the limits of print or podcast. And instead of arguing about religious beliefs of any sort, we'll be exploring universal 'saving graces' like Courage, Forgiveness, and Compassion."
