New Hampshire to Play Potentially Critical Role in the 2016 Election
New Hampshire Institute of Politics director says new app will help voters make an informed choice
Freedom, NH, October 7, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Citizens Count, NH’s Live Free or Die Alliancewants to remind Granite Staters that with Gov. Maggie Hassan and U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte polling neck-in-neck in a race that could swing control of the Senate, New Hampshire voters are once again playing a key role in the outcome of the 2016 election. That’s why New Hampshire Institute of Politics and Political Library executive director Neil Levesque is encouraging voters to check out the NH Voter Guide 2016 mobile app.
The NH Voter Guide app provides in-depth, nonpartisan information on candidates for all state and federal races in the Granite State. “Having clear, reliable information about where candidates stand on the issues is vital to making an informed choice in the voting booth,” Levesque said. “The app makes that available at the touch of a screen, not just for major races like the U.S. Senate but for harder-to-find contests like those for the state House and Senate. It’s really a great resource.”

The app was developed by Citizens Count, NH’s Live Free or Die Alliance, a nonpartisan nonprofit devoted to making citizen engagement easier.
“We are pleased with the number of people who downloaded the NH Voter Guide 2016 and used the application to help make an informed decision in the primary election. The feedback has been tremendously positive,” stated Sharon Ponchak, project leader for the NH Voter Guide 2016, "and now that people are really zeroing in on their final choices, the app can play an even bigger role in the decision-making process by sharing where candidates stand on important NH issues."
Ponchak emphasized that the app is truly an unbiased resource for voters. “We get our information on the candidates by surveying everyone running for office in New Hampshire, so we can hear where they stand in their own words. For those who don’t fill out the survey, we use voting records, candidate websites, and public statements to fill in the blanks. It’s a lot of research but well worth the effort.”
The app was recently updated with coverage of all the primary winners as well as the write-in candidates who qualified during the September 13th primary. It will continue to be updated through November 8th, with more information added all the time. Additional issue positions, campaign finance data, voting history and more can be found at Citizens Count’s website, CitizensCount.org.
The NH Voter Guide 2016 is available for both Android and Apple devices (CitizensCount.org/voterguide). Be an informed voter. Download the NH Voter Guide 2016 today.
