New Jersey Down Syndrome Awareness Walk Scheduled For Ocean And Monmouth Counties
Online, September 4, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The Jersey Shore Down Syndrome Association is holding a Step Up For Down Syndrome Walk on Saturday October 13. The walk is from 9 am - 1 pm, at the Wall Municipal Complex at 2700 Allaire Rd in Wall, NJ. The day will include the walk, food, prizes and fun family activities. Individuals and teams are encouraged to register to participate in this fun event. Sponsorships are still available. Funds raised from this event will directly support the mission of the organization, and will be the driving force behind the organizations programs such as the desperately needed Parents First Call program, unveiling this month. Details can be found at jsdsa.org.
Founded in 2011, the Jersey Shore Down Syndrome Association is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization. The JSDSA relies on donations from the community as well as corporate partners within the community. The JSDSA is an affiliate of the National Down Syndrome Congress and the National Down Syndrome Society. The Jersey Shore Down Syndrome Association covers Ocean and Monmouth Counties. It is the only non-profit organization in the Ocean County area dedicated solely to the Down syndrome community. Our mission is to empower and support individuals with Down syndrome and their families through increased awareness, advocacy, education and inclusion. Support and sponsorship of our organization will allow us to provide services to new and expectant parents, to reach out to the medical community, provide resource referrals, enrichment programs, activities, parent support groups and more, all with the goal of enhancing and enriching lives. The best way to increase awareness is through community events and media participation.
